20th November- Universal Children’s Day - Stand Up for Children’s Right

As the world marks the 22th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on 20th November 2011, there is opportunity not only for celebration, but also for taking stock of the extent to which children’s rights are respected and protected in Seychelles.

Asvin Seeboo man behind NCC’s new desk calendar

Ashvin Seeboo, NCC’s new goodwill messenger is the heart and mind behind a new calendar for the organisation. The set of 12 photographs used to illustrate this new calendar has been captured with a sense of knowing and artistic eye for details which reflects style and personality.

Goodwill Organization Named during Glitzy Night at Le Meridien Barbarons

Le Meridien Barbarons now synonymous with splendour and gastronomic feast had been chosen to grace the presence of at least 5 ministers and about 300 guests from different public, private and non-government  organizations in the country. The air of relaxation and conviviality had been reinforced by the artistic touch of Dorothy Westergreen to make the place look more glitzy. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with welcome drinks and made to relax with power-point and video presentations as they listened to the live music of Island Fever.

Children and Young people are partners in Disaster Risk Reduction

The International Day for Disaster Reduction is organized every year on October 13th, to celebrate and raise awareness regarding what we can all do to reduce our risk to disasters. This year the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) chose the theme ‘Children and Young People are partners in Disaster Risk Reduction’.

New Good will Messenger donates Frisbee with a number

The kids in the neighbourhood of Anse A La Mouche had rounded up for the advertised Frisbee event  and some families had come from as far as Glacis to enjoy the treat. The rain threatened to spoil the day but credits go to the organizers for turning the gloomy atmosphere  into a heart -warming and impressive one. “Come, rain or shine, wind or thunder” said the NCC Director,-“we're going to ensure the kids have fun”. And so they did! 

Ho ho ho, ha ha ha,” NCC to raise fund with laughter Yoga in October

In keeping with the rapid growth of the laughter movement and increasing awareness about the benefits of Laughter Yoga,  the National Council for Children (NCC ) has invited the founder of Laughter Yoga Dr. Madan Kataria, an Indian physician from Mumbai to bring more laughter and joy into the lives of Seychellois 

Be Happy – Chicco Martino is appointed Goodwill messenger by the NCC

After accepting the title of GOODWILL messenger from the NCC on Sunday 17th July Chicco Martino will spread the  message that it should not hurt to be a child in Seychelles  wherever he goes to perform . Childhood   should be a happy time for all children  he said, during the “Be Happy” show .


Child Protection Week 2011

NCC was proud to once again this year host the Child Protection Week an annual event held towards the end of May beginning of June. In view of the fact that emphasis was on Early Childhood the theme adopted for the week was “Come Play with me” to highlight the importance of play as a fundamental right in the life of a child as a child needs to play in order to develop different vital skills.
To mark the occasion the week was launched during an activity targeting Day Care children from various Day Cares on Mahe.


Come and play with me

It has been said that play is children’s work. While most adults were at work on Monday morning, NCC was launching its Child Protection Week under the theme, “Come and Play with me” on the Anse La Mouche beach, opposite the Opera restaurant.
