What is NCC?
The Seychelles Islands, situated in the Indian Ocean, 4 degrees South of the Equator, has a population of approximately 85,000 inhabitants, of which 33 percent is young people aged between 0 and 18 years.
Over the years the National Council for Children (NCC), a Non Government Organisation, has been an active advocate for the rights of children and has been vocal in its denunciation of child abuse . It has also worked to raise-public awareness on issues related to children’s well being.
The council receives a grant from government. In addition, NCC is actively involved in fund raising activities. Donations are also received from well-meaning benefactors.
Help from international agencies and other sources is most welcome. This could be through financial means, the sharing of experience, expertise in children, family issues or self development programmes.
Please help us help the children.
- Do you care about children ?
- Do you want to help in protecting children against all forms of abuse?
- Do you want to make a difference in the lives of others?
Did you know that one of the greatest gifts you can ever make to the National Council for Children is the gift of your time through volunteering?
Volunteers play a vital role in what we do here and we’re always in need of more caring people—like you—to join our team.
Whether you have a few hours available to help with one of our fundraising events or would like to assist in one of our educational programmes, we have volunteer opportunities to suit your needs and interests.
As a volunteer you can:
- Be in the frontline of child protection
- Provide behind the scene support
- Serve as an ambassador
- Help children and parents feel good, and feel good about yourself too.
The NCC can work with you to provide rewarding experiences, opportunities to utilize your talents, and provide training to help you serve the community .
The NCC volunteer programme offers you the opportunity to help us “promote the well-being of the child”. The council appreciates the motivation , initiative and goodwill of those wishing to volunteer.
Review and determine where your own talents and interests might best fit the Council’s needs. Please remember to indicate the day(s) of the week you are available and whether you prefer volunteering in the morning (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon), afternoon (12:00 noon to 4:00 pm), or non-working hours.
